Sergio Vezzali realizzando la copertina del libro al quale stavo lavorando da più di un anno si ispirò alla sigla di QUARK che recentemente ha compiuto il quarantesimo anno (vedi articolo)
L’immagine della copertina del libro fu generata ad hoc e ripresa da uno schermo monocromatico vettoriale. Al libro fu posto il sottotitolo “Introduzione alle tecniche automatiche di rappresentazione” per meglio focalizzare la finalità dell’uso del computer. Pubblicato per i tipi del Gruppo Editoriale Jackson, leader all’epoca delle pubblicazioni elettroniche ed informatiche, il libro venne presentato a Roma il 3 giugno 1983. Considerato l’argomento trattato ed il momento tecnologico richiedemmo la partecipazione di Piero Angela che delegò il suo collega e cofondatore di Quark il giornalista Giangi Poli. Di quella presentazione, la prima di un mio libro, ricordo bene oltre alla emozione le parole culturalmente fantastiche del professore Eugenio Battisti , che mi aveva spronato a realizzare l’opera, le considerazioni di Poli che richiamò l’impegno profuso in termini di divulgazione della informatica e quelle del professore Elio Piroddi che comunque prese le distanze dalla computer grafica non volendo rinunciare, mi ricordo disse, in fase di progettazione al tempo per riflettere impiegato nel temperare la matita.

La sigla di QUARK rimarrà nella storia così come quello che ha fatto Piero Angela al quale vanno i miei pensieri.

The image of the book cover was generated ad hoc and taken from a vector monochrome screen. The book was subtitled “Introduction to automatic representation techniques” to better focus on the purpose of using the computer. Published for the types of the Jackson Publishing Group, leader at the time of electronic and computer publications in Italy, the book was presented in Rome on June 3, 1983. Considering the subject matter and the technological moment, we requested the participation of Piero Angela who delegated his colleague and co-founder of Quark the journalist Giangi Poli. Of that presentation, the first of one of my books, I remember well, in addition to the emotion, the culturally fantastic words of Professor Eugenio Battisti, who had encouraged me to create the book, the considerations of journalist Poli ( cofounder of Quark program) who recalled the commitment made in terms of dissemination of the computer science and those of professor Elio Piroddi who in any case distanced himself from computer graphics not wanting to give up, I remember he said, in the design phase at the time to reflect used in sharpening the pencil.
